It is with great sadness that the family of Wayne Deschamps announce his passing on August 7, 2017. Wayne was born on August 27, 1949 to David and Mary Louise (Barr) Deschamps in Yuma, Colorado.
Wayne had a busy life growing up, working on a farm and ranch with his parents. Wayne left after high school to attend Denver Automotive and Diesel College. After completing his Associate’s degree, Wayne returned back home to the family farm, where they grew Certified Millet and seven other varieties. He was a member, and at one time the president, of the Certified Seed Growers Association.
He married Leora Carter on June 7, 1969 and to this union they were blessed with four children. Besides their four children, they always had extra kids living and helping out on the farm. Wayne and Leora continued to run the family farm in Wray, with the help of their children and the ones staying with them. Wayne and his family enjoyed time at the race track; it didn’t matter if it was drag racing or circle track racing. His greatest joy was being with all his family while watching his son Todd race his #58 modified. Saturdays were always a special and a busy time spent getting ready for the races. When he wasn’t busy at the track or on the farm, he spent his time at the lake fishing or in the mountains hunting. Wayne was an amazing man with a big heart that will be missed by family and friends.
He will be remembered by his loving wife, Leora (Carter) Deschamps, his mother-in-law, Betty Carter; his children, Tim Deschamps and wife, Jennifer (Mahaffey) Deschamps, Todd Deschamps and significant other, Christy Craig, Tony Deschamps and fiancé, Robin Lohman, and Traci (Deschamps) Johnson and husband, Steve Johnson. Wayne was blessed with many grandchildren Celena, Morgan, Kelli, Blake, Serena, Logan Deschamps, Logan Craig and Bodi.
Preceding him in death were his parents David Deschamps and Mary Louise (Barr) Deschamps, his father-in-law, Samuel Carter, and his brothers, Danny and Carl Deschamps.
