Warren Charles “Stevie” Stephenson passes away at 90. Born on April 17, 1921 in Courtland, Kansas, Stevie’s parents were Harry and Laura Haney Stephenson. He married Pauline Mary Nighswonger and they remained married until she passed away in 2007. He and Pollie built and owned a cleaning shop in St. Francis, a locker plant and a feed and fertilizer business both in Wray during the course of their careers. They had one son, Randelle C. “Randy” Stephenson. A strong member of the Wray Volunteer Fire Department, Stevie served for 22 years including time as the chief. He also served on the Wray City Council including a term as Mayor. Stevie was active in the Lions Club and was a charter member of the Wray Elks Lodge.
He is survived by his son, Randy, his daughter-in-law, Marsha and his grandson, MacGregor “Tyler” Stephenson, all of Austin, Texas as well as his sister, Joanne Stephenson Wells of Galveston, Texas.
His granddaughter, Stepheni Lyn Stephenson Crawford and great-grandson, John “Jack” Crawford predeceased him.
Warren “Stevie” Stephenson, 90 passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Hillcrest Care Center in Wray, Colorado. A Rosary service will be held on Friday, January 27, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Spellman-Schmidt Funeral Home in Wray, Colorado. Mass will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2012, 10:00 a.m. with Father Jonathan Dellinger officiating. Interment was in the Grandview Cemetery in Wray, Colorado. Memorials may be made to the Wray Volunteer Fire Department. Spellman-Schmidt Funeral Home in Wray was in charge of arrangments.
