Wanda Jean Jones passed away peacefully after a long illness with her family nearby on June 20, 2016 in Fort Worth, Texas at the age of 76.
Wanda was born October 8, 1939 in McCook, NE to Alford & Ruth Shepherd as the seventh child of eight children. She spent her childhood in McCook before her family relocated to Denver, Colorado.
She graduated from Denver North High School in 1958 and went on to serve in the U. S. Navy. Upon the completion of her duty she moved to Wray, Colorado where she met and married her husband of 54 years Wallace “Wally” Jones.
Wanda worked in many well-known businesses in Wray including Farmer’s Café, Wray Hospital, Goody’s and most notably Wray Super’s. Wally and Wanda moved to Weatherford, Texas in 1993, where she worked at Walmart for 18 years before retiring in 2012.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents Alford & Ruth Shepherd, her parents in-law, Homer & may Jones, her daughter, Kimberly Jones-Sudbeck, sister, Ruthie Bills, Siblings in-law, Galen Jones, Janet Walker & Kay Yost.
She is survived by her husband, Wallace “Wally” Jones, children, Wally “Joe” Jones & wife, Trudy; Kelly Jones & wife, Gina; Beverly “Buffy” (Jones) Hanson & husband, Kevin; Toni (Jones) Brandner & husband, Roy; Kasey (Jones) & husband, Bryce and son-in-law, Gordon Sudbeck. Grandchildren, Misti, Ashley, Audra, Darrus, Travis, Tyler, Hunter, Rebecca, Taylor, Kady, Jenna, Paige, Rob & Tom and six great-grandchildren, Ryker, Blakley, Renner, Miana, Macson & Ruxen Jones “R.J.” Her siblings, Bonnie Ireland, Jackie Adkins, Harry Shepherd, Alta Rydquist, Janet Mirayes & Lyle Shepherd. Siblings in-law: Quentin & Lucy Jones, Gary & Bobbie Jones, Milton & Venetta Jones, Allen & Judy Jones, Murlynn Jones, Bob Walker, Dean Yost, Carol & Dean Newton, Dave & Barb Jones and Denis & Deena Jones and many nieces and nephews.

The family will host a “Memorial Celebration” July 23, 2016 from 12 (noon) – 4:00 p.m. at the Wray Round House following a Private Family Graveside Service at the Grandview Cemetery in Wray, Colorado.
