Wanda Marlene Baker, 86, passed after a brief illness August 21, 2023 in Wray, CO. She was born October 1, 1936, in Mildred CO, the daughter of Gerald and Vera Mae Duff.
Marlene married Rex Baker May 28, 1954, to this union two boys were born. Both Rex and Marlene worked as Custodians at the First Christian Church in Wray for many years. Then Marlene moved on to be a proofreader at the Wray Gazette followed by working at the Wray Museum after retirement. She was involved in Chez Moi and Bible Study. Her hobbies included riding motorcycles, traveling, dancing, puzzles, various arts and crafts and collecting ornamental butterflies.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by spouse, Rex Baker and siblings, Wayne Duff, Barbara Binkley (Duff), and Gary Duff.
Surviving family members include siblings, Pauline Preuss, Donnie Duff, Larry Duff, and Maxine Polak, children, Garland Baker and Kenneth Baker, grandchildren, Jennifer and Lucas Ortiz, Megan Baker, Darin and Chelsea Baker and great-grandchildren, Jay, Unique, Paxton, Taylor, Paige, Cody, Khira and Orion.
Visitation will be held at the Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home, 427 Adams Street, Wray, Colorado on Saturday, August 26, 2023 from 8 a.m. - 12 (noon).
Services held at 2:00pm, Saturday Aug. 26, 2023 at the First Christian Church in Wray, Colorado with Pastor Curtis Taylor officiating.
Burial at Grandview Cemetery in Wray, CO. Those who wish to remember Marlene in a special way may make gifts in her memory to the First Christian Church, 534 Grant Street in Wray, CO 80758.
