Viola L. (Blazer) Wall

February 22, 1930 — March 16, 2016

Viola Lucille Blazer Wall was born to Howard and Ada Blazer on February 22, 1930, at her Aunt Frances Bucholz’s home near Vernon, CO. She passed away March 16, 2016, at the age of 86. She was the oldest of four siblings, Dewayne Blazer, Harold Blazer, Arlene Blazer McCracken and Robert Blazer.
During the first five years of Vi’s life her father farmed in Yuma and Washington Counties, Colorado. Dewayne was born in 1932 and Harold in 1933. In 1935, her dad moved the family to Oregon for work. Vi always had good memories of living in Lebanon, Oregon. The family was there until 1941 when they moved back to the Vernon, CO, area. While in Oregon, her youngest siblings were born – Arlene in 1936 and Robert in 1937. Vi would care for her four siblings while her father worked at a plywood mill and mother worked at a cannery. She spent her life as a caregiver of family and friends.
She married Edward Paul Wall on January 12, 1947, at St. Francis, Kansas. Their first child, Cheryl, was born April 22, 1953, and Linda was born January 5, 1955. Ed and Vi farmed all of their married life, the first 7 years near Haigler, NE, and 33 years near Kirk, CO. They raised mainly wheat and cattle. She worked outside of the home for a short time at the Idalia Equity Coop as bookkeeper; and also USDA-APHIS meeting with local farmers. Vi and Ed worked hand in hand on the farm. Vi was a Sunday School Teacher, 4-H Leader, always had a garden (and strawberries she remembered from Oregon) and sewed most of their clothes.
In March of 1997, Ed passed away. Vi continued to farm until she purchased a home in Wray in 1990.
Vi was raised in the Lutheran Church and was an active member her entire lifetime. She was baptized on march 16, 1930 and confirmed on April 28, 1944. During her years she was active as a Sunday School Teacher, Altar Guild Member, Vacation Bible School Teach, Member of Nominating Committee and Kitchen Helper.
She enjoyed bowling, card parties/supper club with friends, family dinners and traveling. She loved to visit her four granddaughters. She was very proud of her family. She cared for her mother in her home until she went into a nursing home.
Vi was proceeded in death by her husband, Edward Paul Wall; her parents, Howard and Ada Blazer; sister, Arlene McCracken; and brother, Robert Blazer.
Left to mourn are daughters: Cheryl and husband Delbert Scofield and Linda and husband Richard Harlow. Grandchildren: Candace and husband, Andy Ewens, Taylor and Davis Ewens.
