Ottillie LENA (ENGEL EASTIN) ANDREWS

Tillie was born on the family farm South West of Vernon November 5, 1910  to John Paul and Louise {Biermann} Engel.  She passed away June 12, 2012 at Hillcrest Care Center. At the age of 101 years 7 months and 7 days  Tillie was baptized into the Luthern Church on December 6,1910.

Tillie was the second oldest of seven children.

She started to school at the age of {6}  six speaking only German, the teacher informed her parents she needed to learn English, which was very hard as the family spoke only German.

At the age of {10} ten Tillie lost her Mother, she then became the woman of the house, going to school, doing laundry, cooking, keeping house, doing chores, also taking care of some of the younger children.

On January 31,1928 she married George A Eastin, farming and raising their two children, lrven Dwaine and Alberta Idona became her life.  She lived around Vernon until1943 when George and she purchased a home 14 miles west of Vernon at the Heartstrong corner.  She continued to work by Georges side until his death on August 22,1953.

Tillie worked at Ruth’s Cafe and the Butt Motel untilher children were through school.

On November 2,1957 she was united in marriage to Harry Andrews, blending their two families together with Harry’s two children Wanda Mary and Kenneth LeRoy.  They lived on the farm when Harry passed away January 19,1992.

Tillie continued to live on the farm until April, 2003.When she moved to the Towers at Hillcrest Care Center.  Where she spend the remainder of her life.

Tillie loved to play cards, or a game of cribbage she would drive a country mile or catch a ride to do so . She flew to Arizona to watch the Rockies baseball team in spring training, (her favorite team} she loved going  to the Rockies games in Denver.

Tillie was proceeded in death by her parents,the father of her children George Eastin, Husband Harry Andrews, Three Grandchildren, Randy Eugene Eastin, Twins Greggory Matthew and Chassity Lynn Peterson, Two brothers Fred and Ed Engel; Three sisters Helen Newton, Clara Wingfield, Margaret Harris; a half sister Marie Beaumont, two half brother  Ernest and CarlEngel; Step Daughter Wanda Cristy; Step son Leroy Andrews and other family members and In-laws.

Survivors are her children Dwaine and wife Luretha, Alberta Peterson and husband Gary, step daughter in-law, Georgia Andrews, Fifteen Grandchildren, Thirty-one Great Grandchildren and Sixteen Great Great-Grandchildren, Brother John Engel and wife Anna, Sisters-in-law Evelyn Eastin,  Betty Sheperd, and Ruth Engel, Half Brothers Junior Engel and Elmer Engel, Three Half-sisters Martha Bretz, Violet Gay and Imogene Gunter, Many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 10:00 a.m., Calvary Lutheran Church in Wray, Colorado with Pastor Tim Davis officiating. Interment in the Glendale Cemetery- Vernon, Colorado followed services. Memorials may be made to the First Candle, 1314 Bedfort Avenue, Suite 210, Baltimore, MD 21208, Hospice of the Plains, P.O. Box 365, Wray, Colorado 80758 or a memorial of your choice. Spellman-Schmidt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
