Steven John Newton

Steven John Newton was born February 19, 1963 in the Wray Community District Hospital in Wray Colorado, to the proud parents John and Gracie Newton, waiting for his arrival was Lois. In the last 6 years, he struggled with many health issues and cancer took his life on July 24, 2017.

Steve was an amazing beautiful person a cross between naughty and super sweet. He was friends with nearly everyone, never met a stranger, with a smile that melted every heart. His quirky personality and a nack for mischief and sometimes got him in trouble.

He attended the Wray Schools, until his mom passed away when he was 15 years old shortly after his dad moved to Eckley, Colorado where he lived on and off the rest of his life.

Steve believed in hard work which also allowed for him to play hard, he loved to laugh, joke and to love. He like to play pranks. He just loved to have fun, the life of the party.

From the young age of 14 he had many jobs with his dad, traveling with harvest crews, to other states. Worked for Smith dairy, Father-in-Law farming and Iron business with his Brother-in-Law Chuck. With his last job at JBS Five Rivers. Where he because unable to work.

On February 13, 2016 He married Alisa Mathies. To this union Abbigail was born on February 2, 2011 to welcome her home was their other 2 daughter Anna, and Alexis. Steve and Alisa was married in Eckley Colo where they have made their home.

Steve loved riding his Harleys. He visited Sturgis and meet two of his favorite wrestlers, Hulk Hogan and Macho Man. He loved going fishing working on cars and watching wrestling with his family.

He leaves to mourn, his wife, Alisa; daughters, Anna, Alexis and Abby, Miranda and husband, John, sisters, Lois and Glenda, nephews, Thomas Newton and Chester Spelts, nieces, Jessica Maestas and Christina Thompson, grandchildren, Mackenzie, Layla, Skylar, Callie, Dakota, Chase, Aria. Terry, Faith, great nieces and nephews, Johnathan, Seth, Callie, Jesse, Taylor, Gracie, Kristopher, father and mother-in-law, Dennis and Linda Matheis and sister-in-laws, Dana and Kayla.

Preceding him are his parents, John and Gracie Newton, grandparents, Myron and Niomi Newton and John and Anna Sanderson, uncles, Glen Warren, Melvin Rawson, and Max Muller, Earl Newton, Elzie Newton, Otto Newton, Paul Newton, Art (Nipper) Newton, Roy Newton, aunts, Edith Engle, Hattie Polly, Esther Rawson, Bonnie Yates, Mable Critchfield.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral Services were held on Thursday, July 27, 2017, 2:00 p.m. at the Quintech Gym in Yuma, Colorado with Pastor Don Smith officiating. Interment was held in the Eckley Cemetery in Eckley, Colorado following services. Memorials may be made to the Steven J. Newton Memorial Fund. Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
