Sally Mancuso Ioannides formerly of New Jersey was born August 5 th 1948 to Ruby (Dobbins) and Salvatore Mancuso. She passed away September 21 st 2018 at the age of 70. She attended East Orange High School in New Jersey and was united in marriage to Charlie Ioannides in 1971 and though the marriage dissolved, they remained lifelong friends sharing two daughters and 4 grandchildren.
After high school, Sally’s working life included Dun and Brad Street, Newsweek Magazine, Star Tavern, and St. Elizabeth’s College. In 2009, she moved to Virginia to help raise her grandchildren with her daughter and son-in-law serving in the military. She moved to Wray in 2017 after her family relocated in order to continue to be with her family.
Sally enjoyed dancing, singing, music, cooking, and being with family. She was an avid writer, journaling almost every day of her life. She loved animals with her favorite TV shows involving animal rescue and veterinary care.
Sally will be remembered for her generosity and selflessness. She was always helping and feeding people while also donating time, money, and items to anyone that needed assistance. Much of her life she was the neighborhood mom and later in life all the kids knew her as “Grandma Sally.” Sally was known as the “cool aunt” by all her nieces and nephews.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents, Ruby and Salvatore Mancuso, her brothers, Robert and Kenny Mancuso, and sister, Marian Kiballo.
Survivors include two daughters, Adria Ioannides of New Jersey, and Elena Scarbrough of Wray, CO, son-in-law, Andrew Burrell of Wray CO, and grandchildren, Jason Amalbert of New Jersey, Xanthe Burrell, Carmine Burrell, and Gabriel Burrell of Wray, CO, sister, Carol and Paul Ioannides (brother-in-law) of New Jersey, sister, Kassi Mancuso of New Jersey, and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service was held on Tuesday September 25 th at Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home in Wray, CO with an additional being held in New Jersey at the Dangler Funeral Home in West Orange on Tuesday, October 2 rd from 5-8 pm.
