Ronald Ray Clark was born July 10, 1946, in Burlington, CO to John Jr. and Alma (Brenner) Clark of Idalia CO. Ron Passed away February 14, 2023, in Lakewood, Colorado with his 2 sons by his side. Ron was the age of 76.
“Ronnie” was what he was called in his hometown of Idalia, CO where he grew up with two younger sisters Donna and Karen. Ronnie was very active in high school. He played Football, Baseball and Basketball. He was part of the “I” team, Future Farmers of America, Class Vice President, Class Treasure, voted most talented multiple times because Ronnie was not only an outstanding athlete, but he could also play the piano, play the trumpet and sing. Ronnie graduated with the class of 1964 and was offered a scholarship to attend CSU in Fort Collins. His college highlight was making the basketball team his freshman year for CSU.
Ron married his high school sweetheart, Janice Schultz, in 1964 to which they had 2 boys. Bryan Ray and Bradford Ray. Ron worked on the family farm in Idalia. He also did some construction work with his dad building grain bins and steel buildings until he opened up his own trucking and repair company in Wray, CO. He owned RCI and operated trucks hauling grain and fertilizer for 53 years.
In 1990 Ron and Dianne Collins met each other and were later married at their favorite vacation spot, Grand Lake, CO. They enjoyed winter snowmobiling trips to Grand Lake with their families.
Ron enjoyed most sports throughout his life. He would go on fishing and hunting trips with friends, lake trips with his boat (even though he couldn’t swim) and snowmobiling (the thrill of “Chicken Hill”). Ron was always up for a tournament of horseshoes, darts, pool, softball, golf, bowling and pitch (which he preferred to be his mother Alma’s partner). Ron loved drag racing cars and semi-trucks. He always had to have the fastest one. Those that knew Ron would agree with his sister who said “Ronnie loved to be competitive and was very good at it!”
Ron worked hard and played hard up until the very end. He enjoyed his social life down at Archie’s and the Vets Club and always had a story or two to share. He will be missed.
Ron was proceeded in death by his parents John & Alma Clark and his grandparents.
He is survived by his sisters Donna Lee Clark Moore; Karen Clark Schiros; wife: Dianne Sheldon Clark; sons: Bryan Clark; Brad (Jacque) Clark; Step-children: Chris (Rocio) Collins; Casey (Jeff) Sprague; Cody (Amanda) Collins; Kirbi (Clay) Rockwell; Grandchildren: Harley (Ethan) Jones; Lexie Clark, Austen Clark and Ashlee Clark; Great-Grandchildren: Mia Jones; Elle Jones; Myles Jones; (15) Step-Grand Children and (4) Step-Great Grand Children
Visitation/Viewing was held at the Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home in Wray, Colorado on Monday, February 20, 2023 from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home in Wray, Colorado. The service will be livestreamed on One Room (oneroomstreaming.com)
Interment was held in the Grandview Cemetery in Wray, Colorado following services.
Memorials may be made to the Wray Country Club in Wray, Colorado.
