Ronald Henry Peterson was born to Robert and Marjorie (Looney) Peterson on April 30,1943 in Denver, Colorado. He was the third of twelve children to grow up in their beloved family home on Quitman Street. Growing up Ron received his amateur radio license at age 13 and he loved radios his entire life. Ron received a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy and a Master’s Degree in Theology from Saint Thomas Seminary.
Ron met the love of his life, Teresa Mich, in 1971 and they married shortly thereafter. They welcomed their first child, Tanya in 1972 and their son Dominic in 1975. They made their home initially in Idalia, then Denver and eventually settled in Wray where they lived for over 40 years. Ron ran an electronics store, IC Electronics, for many years. Throughout his life Ron was known for his love of God and family. He was active in the Marked Men for Christ Ministry. He was also in the Lions Service Club and Knights of Columbus for many years. Ron loved to travel and meet new people. He was always ready to lend a hand to anyone and was never afraid of new experiences. He enjoyed camping in the mountains and loved hiking. Ron always had a joyful spirit. His grandchildren were very special to him and were the light of his life.
Ron is survived by his wife, Teresa; daughter, Tanya and Forrest Holoubeck, grandsons, Colton, Zane and Gage Holoubeck; son, Dominic and Gina Peterson; grandsons, Lukas, Ethan, Benjamin, Samuel Peterson and granddaughter, Leia Peterson; sisters, Cookie & Richard Clem, Sherry Peterson and Tim Gallagher, Jeannie and Gregg Haycraft, Linda and Jerry Mora, Theresa Peterson and Christine Peterson; brothers, Bobby and Jan Peterson, David and Leasa Peterson, Larry and Deb Peterson, Michael Peterson, and Gary and Melissa Peterson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews as well as many dear friends.
He passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2021. Rosary was held on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, 6:00 p.m. at the St. Andrew Catholic Church in Wray, Colorado.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the St. Andrew Catholic Church on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Felicien Ilunga Mbala and Father Jerry Rohr officiating.
Masks are required for services.
Interment will be held in the Grandview Cemetery in Wray, Colorado.
