Robert Pariset was born at home on July 3, 1929 to Charlie and Marie (Schmidt) Pariset. He went to his Lord on February 26, 2016 at Hillcrest.
Robert grew up on a farm nine miles south of Eckley. His education started in a one room schoolhouse southwest of the home place. He attended Eckley High School, graduating in 1948 as valedictorian. During his senior year he was the state typing champion. He attended one semester at CSU, came home and joined the army. He was stationed at Fort Carson during the Korean War.
Robert married Lenorelie Hitchcock on February 10, 1951. To this union was four children, Sheryl, Steven, Susan, and Scott. Before they settled at Vernon, they lived at Idalia, east of the Port. Before Steve was born in April of 1954, they moved to the “home place” in a dust storm.
Robert started his farming career by raising dryland milo, corn, wheat, and feed. They milked cows, fed hogs, and raised chickens. They sold the eggs and cream for extra income. Hogs were sold as butcher hogs. To supplement his growing family, he worked for the soil conservation. He helped build the placer dams around Wray. When irrigation became the mode, he started irrigating with sprinklers raising corn, beans, popcorn, and wheat.
He enjoyed life. He never met a stranger, and he loved to talk with anyone. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church. He held many church offices, was a member of Farm Bureau, loved to square dance, and travel. Robert and Lenorelie celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2001.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Lenorelie; his parents, Charles and Marie Pariset, and his brother, Victor Pariset.
He is survived by daughter, Sheryl Wudtke (Dick); son, Steven Pariset (Paula); daughter, Susan Miller (Bill); and son, Scott Pariset(Karen). The grandchildren are Sara Mildenberger (Andy), Ray Wudtke (Dana), Angie Adamson, Brandon Adamson, Dawnelle Werner (Paul), Dominique Pariset (Jason), Meggan Pariset (Marcus), Gregg Pariset (Ali), and Matt Pariset.
