Pauline Almira (Haines) Glenn, 93, of Wray Colorado went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 12, 2023.
She was born on May 1, 1930, to Hiett Emerson Haines and Geraldine Nellie (Evans) Haines in Hutchinson, Kansas. Pauline lived her early years in Hutchinson but when a teenager her family moved to Colorado where she finished school.
Pauline married the love of her life, Lawrence Clay Glenn, on December 17, 1947, in Brighton, Colorado. The married couple returned to Kansas to start their new life together farming and ranching. Pauline and Clay enjoyed marital bliss for 66 years but were friends through it all for 70 years. She is the mother of four children: Dwayne Allen, Gary Dean, Diana Kay and Myra JoAnne.
She was a strong woman who lived life to its fullest. Having moved to Colorado in 1959, Pauline and Clay made friends with the family at the end of the block and the Glenn family doubled with the treasured friendship of Jim and Jenny McNew and their three children. Many weekends found Clay, Pauline and family camping in the mountains, fishing, waterskiing, and visiting National Parks. Pauline was active in Girl Scouts as a leader, she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and sang in the church choir. One highlight of her life was having the opportunity to sing in the choir for the Billy Graham Crusade when it came to Denver in the 1965. She loved to bowl and was in a league for many years. She worked more than twenty years alongside her husband, Clay, for The Lord’s Pantry and Colorado Shares in Adams County, and after moving to Wray, at Manna Pantry. Pauline loved roses and spent hours working in her flowerbeds. Her love of roses led her to having a rose garden wherever she lived, and she was known to grow some beautiful roses. One company used her rose garden as a test plot for their new roses to see how they would thrive in the Colorado climate much to Pauline’s delight. She loved doing crafts and crocheting but her passion was painting. You could find Pauline sitting at her table daily painting on her latest project.
In the 1960’s when Sand Creek threatened to overflow its banks in Denver, Pauline loaded kids and supplies in the car and was ready to drive anywhere to get away from the flood. As the kids slept in the car that night Pauline listened to the radio and kept watch. A lazy summer afternoon would find Pauline laying on the grass in the backyard with her small children looking up at the clouds watching them go by and looking for shapes.
Pauline was a faithful member of the First Christian Church in both Commerce City and Wray. She read the Bible completely through 3 times listened to the audible Bible completely through twice. She inspired others to have a closer walk with God by modeling the love of Christ through acts of charity and her study of the scriptures. Pauline knew no stranger. She could talk to anyone, shake hands and greet everyone with a smile no matter where she was.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clay; baby Gary Dean; her parents Hiett Haines and Geraldine Moore; her brothers: Robert Haines, Jim Haines and Bill Tarrant.
Pauline is survived by her children; Dwayne (Barbara) Glenn of Thornton, CO, Diana (John) Colby of Albuquerque, NM and Jo (Reg) Clemons of Wray, CO; her grandchildren: Kevin Glenn, Dana (Paul) Mann, JR (Angela) Colby, Shawna Colby, Laura Clemons, Christopher (Kimberly) Clemons and Jonathan Clemons; her 24 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Helen Arnett, Lorraine Glenn and Donna Glenn; brothers-in-law Ron (Emma) Glenn and Norman (Mary) Hoover, a host of loved nieces and nephews and her extended family Jerry (Gail) McNew, Linda (Wayne) Gresham and Jeanne Webb.
