Norene Marie Perry passed away with peace and grace on February 7, 2018 alongside her adopted son, Kurtis. Youngest of three children, Norene Marie Vincent was born on August 21, 1938 in Vancouver Washington. She was raised for most of her life in Saint Francis Kansas. On her 17 th birthday, Norene married Everett Perry and to their union they had their son Rick. Eventually they started their own business, E & R Auto in Wray, Colorado. Norene also worked for TG&Y for about 7 years until they closed the store. In 1991, her only grandchild Kurtis was born, and by the time he was 2 Everett and Norene had adopted him.
Norene was a faithful Christian and nothing in life ever changed that. She was a long time member of First Christian Church in Wray. She loved being involved in the Church over the years. She also became a member of the WRAC several years ago and never stopped moving. She enjoyed walking many miles around that track. It was there Norene met Dan Peery and they were inseparable from then on. They walked together almost every day until last year. More recently she was a resident of Hillcrest. She enjoyed manicures, Bingo, and time spent with her great- grandchild, Landon. She loved her room full of butterflies and pictures of faith.
Norene enjoyed the simple things in life; time with her family, beautiful flowers, butterflies in the spring and walking, just to name a few. One of her favorite things was her iris flowers that bloomed every year beside her house. Those flowers were somewhat of a family tradition, initially being planted at her parent’s residence in Saint Francis. Over time they were replanted a few times and eventually ended up with her. People close to Norene knew that she was very sentimental and held on to anything she felt had meaning. Every card, candy, or gift she received she kept.
Preceded in death by her loving husband, Everett in 2004. Survived by her son, Rick, grandson adopted as a son, Kurtis and great-grandchild and apple of her eye Landon. Also, her sister, Twila and her husband, Bob.
So many remember Norene as a kind and gentle soul. Everyone she encountered was greeted and usually given a wonderful compliment. She was authentic and grateful, and never wanted to complain. She will be forever missed and remembered with a beautiful smile.
“Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.” -Dr Seuss.
