Nettie Jane (Fisher) Sheldon

Nettie Jane (Fisher) Sheldon past away November 17, 2017 at Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, CO. Nettie was born July 21 st , 1931 at the family home, in the Beecher Island area, to Loren and Cora (Trembly) Fisher. She was the second child of seven children. She attended first through eighth grade at District South Willow #97, a country school that was one and a half miles from their home. They walked or rode a horse to get to school. She attended high school in District Wray High School and graduated in May of 1949. While attending high school Nettie met LaVerne Sheldon and they were married at her parent’s home June 5 th , 1949.

They moved to a house that was built for them on LaVerne’s parents farm north of Wray, where they raised their family and lived their entire married life. To this union four children born, Dennis, Nancy, Lois and Susie. Nettie moved to her home in Laird in 1999 following LaVerne’s death. She lived in Laird until January of 2016 when she moved to Hillcrest Nursing Home in Wray where she lived until her death.

She was preceded in death by her parents Loren and Cora, her husband, LaVerne, son, Dennis, two grandsons, Edward Paul Sheldon and J.D. Sheldon, grandson in-law, Steve Schlotthauer, her brother, Everett and brother in-law, Richard Trast. Left to mourn her passing are daughters, Nancy Reynolds of Venango, NE, Lois Donohue and husband, Dan of Bird City, KS, Susie Quint and husband, Tom of Akron, CO, daughter in-law, Sue Sheldon of Chase, KS, grandchildren, Debbie Glen and husband, Kirk of Ellinwood, KS, Rob Spring and wife, Susie of Derby, KS, Dedra Schlotthauer of Ellinwood, KS, Tracy Reynolds and friend, Lucio Rincon of Alamosa, CO, Bobbie Magee of Broken Bow, NE, Casey Donohue and wife, Carrie of Bird City, KS, Scott Donohue and wife, Grace of West Point, NE, Justin Quint of Akron, CO, Jennifer Wyckoff and husband, Brandon of Minatare, NE, Jessica Lebsock and husband, Ty of Yuma, CO and Josh Quint of Laird, CO, 17 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-randchildren, sisters, Viros Beverlin and husband, Gary of Granby, CO, Gracie Trast of Lakewood, CO Doris Osmus and husband, Phil of Wray brothers, Stan Fisher and wife, Barb of Holyoke, CO, and Eldon Fisher and wife, Edith of Chadron NE, special friends and neighbors, Marv and Mary Ann Carlock, numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at the Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home, 427 Adams Street, Wray, Colorado from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 24, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Wray, Colorado with Pastor Steve Wynkoop officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Nettie Jane Sheldon Memorial Fund, c/o First Pioneer National Bank, 145 W. 4th Street, Wray, Colorado 80758. Schmidt - Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
