Nancy Annette (Cornish) Kimsey

Nancy Annette (Cornish) Kimsey born March 8, 1939, at her Grandma Gilstrap’s boarding house in Wray, Colorado to Velma Aughe and later adopted by Robert Cornish. She passed away peacefully on September 8, 2021 at the Hillcrest Care Center in Wray, Colorado.

Nancy grew up in Wray, loved school, very smart in Math and Spelling, was on the Honor Roll Society and played the saxophone in the marching band in High School.

Nancy was a member of the Church of Christ, she enjoyed reading her Bible and Western novels, loved visiting and drinking coffee with friends and was a great cook. She was a whiz at crossword puzzles, spelling and pinochle and enjoyed knitting, sewing, cross-stich, ceramics and solitaire.

Nancy married David Wayne Kimsey at the Wray Church of Christ in June of 1957, and to this union were born four beautiful daughters, Susan, Kelly, Sherry and Jo. They celebrated over 50 years together and during this time they lived in Colorado, New Mexico, Nebraska, Wyoming, Texas, Indiana and Kansas and returned to Colorado for their retirement years.

Nancy drove a school bus, worked at a Credit Union, Kmart, Riverton Ranger, Gillette Credit Bureau and The News-Record.

Nancy is survived by her daughters & son-in-law’s, Susan Towles, Kelly & Dave Sinkbeil, Sherry & Larry Newbanks, and Jo & Kenny Rogers; grandchildren, Nellie, Brandon, Kyle, Joseph, Cristy, Clint, Garrett, Tyler & Lena; great-grandchildren, Shelby, Cooper, Khloe, Halle, Zoey, J.J. Zinnia, Steven, Elli and Willa; brothers, Herman & Loren Cornish; sister, Sharon Voigt; sister-in-law, Marilyn & Gene Anderson, Kimmy Dale & their spouses and families.

Proceeded in death by her husband, Dave, parents, Robert & Velma Cornish, mother & father-in-law, C.S. & Opal Kimsey; brother, Del-Rey; sister-in-law, Janice; and son-in-law, Billy.

A Receiving of Family & Friends was held at the Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home on Monday, September 13, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Private Family Inurnment will be held in the Grandview Cemetery in Wray, Colorado. Memorials may be made to the Mountain States Children’s Home, 14780 N. 107 ^th Street, Longmont, Colorado 80504 or the Wyoming Bible Camp, c/o Mark Holland, 5030 East 17 ^th Street, Casper, Wyoming 82609. Cremation was requested.

A Receiving of Friends and Family will be held on Monday, September 13, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at the Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home in Wray, Colorado. Cremation was requested.

Inurnment will be held in the Grandview Cemetery in Wray, Colorado. Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
