Marin Lucille (Bolton) Moyer

d. September 8, 2012

Marion Lucille Moyer was born to William & Ida Bolton on March 19, 1920.   She was the youngest of seven children.

Lucille grew up on a farm in Kansas. When Lucille was learning to walk she waddled, so her family tagged her with the nickname “Duck”, a name that followed her fondly for all her years.

Lucille went to Texas Tech University . She was unable finish her education there. She came home to help her mother due to the deaths of her brother and father.. Later Lucille had an opportunity to go to Minnesota where she obtained her lab tech certification. In 1945 Lucille left Minnesota to move to Colorado Springs to be with her mother and sisters.

The Bolton and Moyers were always very close friends. Frank Moyer travelled to Colorado Springs to visit Ida Bolton and brought their son Taylor . Wow, when Lucy saw him she knew he was the man she would marry. In 1951 Taylor and Lucille were married and moved to Cheyenne Wells where Taylor ranched and farmed .

In 1957 they were blessed with a son Will. In 1958 Taylor and Lucille lost Lewis John at childbirth.  In 1960 a daughter, Louise, joined their family .

Lucille was a very hard worker . Her careers included a lab tech, a law secretary, school teacher and bookkeeper . But through all these careers her favorite  career was working alongside Taylor and raising her children.

Lucille was a no nonsense person. She told you how it was and was the backbone of the Moyer family. She was fighter for her children and her husband. She wasn ‘t going to let anyone walk over her family

Lucille loved her nieces and nephews and Will and Louise’s friends. She loved them as her own, scolding and disciplining them rights along with her own children , a true expression of her love for all of them.

When Will and Louise left Cheyenne Wells she turned to weaving to fill her days. She and Taylor travelled extensively to buy looms, yarns and learn about the culture of the Native American Women. Her home was filled with items that she wove and with clothing that she fashioned from cloth she wove herself.

In 1992 Taylor and Lucille moved to Wray to be with her son’s family . Lucille loved to go to all Cameron’s and Connor’s games,  and programs and to work in the garden with them .

Lucille was also blessed caring for her younger grandchildren Cody and Taylor taking them to the park, Dairy Queen, fishing and playing lots of games. In spite of all her activities she always found time to be the number one fan of the Colorado Rockies.

2003 was the hardest and most meaningful year of her life.  She was blessed to be a care giver to her husband and to her son when they were so ill.

Lucille was always a care giver- to her family and friends and in later years to her faithful fur companions Jacob and Sally. Lucille never enjoyed large gatherings but did enjoy time one on one with her long time friends.  The celebration of her 90th birthday brought friends from far and near to spend the day and share remembrances.
