Marietta Florence Lundgren, born to William Arthur and Hazel Mae [Spelts] on November 24, 1943, in Denver, Colorado, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 17, 2024, at Hillcrest Care Center. Marietta's early years were spent in Denver before her family moved to Clarksville and then to Eckley, Colorado, where she attended grade school and part of high school.
Marietta was known for her athletic prowess on the Yuma softball team, where she played right field. Her love for sports was matched by her dedication to her work, first as a waitress at the Blue Bird Cafe in Yuma, where she met her husband Melvin Lundgren, and later as a cook at Haxtun Community Hospital.
Marietta and Melvin married on October 3, 1965, and were blessed with two sons, Randy and Rick. After Melvin's passing in 1993, Marietta continued to work and later moved to Wray, where she enjoyed gardening and spending time with her granddaughters, Riley and Skyler.
Marietta was predeceased by her husband Melvin, son Rick, parents William and Hazel, brothers Delmar and Bill, brother-in-law Pete Berghuis, and nieces Debbie, Dalene, and Roberta. She is survived by her son Randy and wife Michelle, daughter-in-law Dale, brothers Delbert, Charlie, Chester, and Calvin, sister Mary, and many extended family members and friends.
Marietta's gentle spirit and love for her family and friends will be dearly missed. May she rest in peace.
