Margaret "Marty" Evans

Margaret L. (Marty) Evans was born August 30 th 1934 the fourth of eight children to Benjamin M. Trembly and Leola V. (Fisher) Trembly in their family farm house near Wray, Colorado. Marty entered her eternal rest with Christ her Lord and Savior March 31 st 2020 while a patient with COVID-19 virus at UC Health in Greeley, Colorado. Marty passed at the young age of 85.

Marty attended Laird schools graduating with a high school degree. Shortly after graduation her younger brother introduced her to Richard Evans who was a teacher and coach in Laird. They were united in marriage May 20 th 1956 at the Laird Methodist Church. To this union, three daughters were born. On Marty’s 23 rd birthday in 1957 she gave birth to her first daughter, Kelly Jean. Twins, Tracy Jo and Teresa Joan, followed 5 years later in 1962.

After marrying Dick, Marty worked as a nurse’s aide at the Wray Hospital until shortly after Kelly was born. From that time on, she became a stay at home Mom with a few odd jobs over the years. She loved to sew for her daughters and grandchildren. She made them dresses, jumpers, and some out of this world overalls. Later in life she became an accomplished quilter.

Marty followed Dick in all his teaching, coaching, and summer school adventures. Marty enjoyed following her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as they grew and played ball, participated in track, and presented programs in school. Marty had an unending love for animals including the numerous pets she had invited into her home over the years.

Marty was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Dick Evans and her parents. Also preceding her were siblings: Cathy and Chuck Sawyer, Jake and Elaine Trembly, Violet and Edgar Moss, May Ann Allen, Dwayne and Janet Trembly, Dave Houston. Surviving siblings include Jerry Allen, Ruth Houston, Crystal and Larry Zion, Evogene Downing, and Mary Murphy.

She is also survived by her daughters Kelly Jean Murphy and husband Steve, Tracy Jo Dilka and husband Troy, and Teresa Joan Williams and husband Calvin. Also survived by grandchildren, Shelly Ann Hardesty, Shari Rae Bolio (Tommy), Sheila Jean Lutz (Jeremy), Jamie Dawn Bradley (John), Samantha Jo Simmons (Jeff), and Carey Lee Vaughn (Cody). Great grandchildren, Patrick Murphy, Alea Hardesty (Keaton Arkulari), Ty Hardesty, Treece Hines, Aiden Hill, Gracie, Lillie, and Blake Lutz, Gunner and Kinsley Vaughn, and Asher Simmons. Marty was also blessed with one great-great-granddaughter, Renli Arkulari. Plus, numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Marty will be laid to rest alongside her late husband in Clough Valley Cemetery located in Cheyenne County, Kansas. There will be a celebration of Marty’s life after the COVID-19 crisis has passed. Marty spent many hours in the WRAC and would be honored for memorials to be donated to Wray Rehabilitation and Activities Center.
