Lynn Dean Adamson

Lynn Dean Adamson passed away on October 11, 2019 at the age of 86 at Wray Community Hospital. Lynn was born on November 14, 1932 to Isaac and Bertha (Adams) Adamson. He had one older sister, Verlene; one older brother, Charles; and a twin brother by 15 minutes, Glenn. He attended his first few years of school north of Wray and finished 8 th Grade at the Cement School in Kirk, CO. At the age of 12 their father died, and the boys continued to farm. When they were 15 the twins bought a farm northeast of Wray. Glenn farmed and Lynn went to work for Henry Bledsoe. Along with their Mom they also worked at the turkey farm in Wray. Lynn first met Dorothy Drommond at a dance in Akron. Lynn and Dottie were married on February 5, 1956 at the United Methodist Church in Wray, CO. They had two children, Shari and Scott.

In 1973 Lynn and Glenn purchased a feedlot located east of Wray from Henry Bledsoe. They changed the name to Adamson Brothers Feedlot. The brothers retired in 2010.

Throughout his life Lynn was active in Wauneta 4-H, a member of the Wray Elks, Wray Rotary, Colorado Cattle Feeders Association, V.P. of Yuma County Cattlemen’s, lay leader in the Methodist Church, and a Wray City Councilmember. Lynn received his private pilot’s license in 1985 and purchased a Cessna aircraft. He loved to fly, bowl, play cards, and golf. Lynn and Glenn were true cowboys.

Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac and Bertha (Adams) Adamson; sister, Verlene (Adamson) Ethridge and her husband, Gerald Ethridge; brother, Charles Adamson; and twin brother, Glenn Adamson. Lynn leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Dottie (Drommond) Adamson; children Shari (Adamson) Courtney and her husband Mark, and Scott Adamson and his wife Debbie; grandchildren Matt Courtney and wife Suzi, Andrea Courtney, Seth Adamson and wife Leanne, and Andrew Adamson. Great grandchildren Jaxon, Eastyn, and Brooklyn Courtney, and Torrey Adamson.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Wray United Methodist Church in Wray, Colorado with Pastor Ben Wentworth officiating. Inurnment will be held in the Grandview Cemetery in Wray, Colorado. Memorials to the Wray Country Club in Wray, Colorado. Cremation was requested.  Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
