Lyle Linn Linman

September 20, 1957 — April 7, 2018

Lyle Linn Liman, age 60, passed away peacefully after a hard-fought battle with brain cancer at his home in Wray, Colorado on April 7, 2018.

He was born September 20, 1957 in Delta, Colorado. He was the second of four sons born to William “Bill” and Lila Linman. He spent his childhood on the family ranch in Crawford, Colorado. He graduated from Hotchkiss High School in 1975.

On December 28, 1977 Lyle married Debora Ferrier. To this union, three children were born; a daughter Sherri and two sons, Matthew and Clinton.

Lyle was a lifetime cattleman and rancher in Colorado. In his younger days, Lyle rode for the West Elk Cattle Pool and the Black Mesa Cattle Pool. He was member of the Colorado Cattleman’s Association, Colorado Angus Association, National Rifle Association, and the Delta County Cattleman’s Association. Lyle served on the Revere High School Accountability Committee and Sedgwick Harvest Festival Rodeo Committee. Lyle also served on the Sedgwick County Fair Board for many years and he and Deb were Sedgwick County Fair Grand Marshals in 2016.

In 1992, Lyle moved his family to Sedgwick, CO to manage a ranch where he remained until his retirement in 2016. Lyle and Deb then bought a small ranch and retired to Wray, CO.

Lyle enjoyed his cow dogs, working cattle horseback and shared with his kids and grandkids his love of horses, cattle and ranching. Lyle was a hard worker, great cattleman and cowboy and was always there to help his friends and neighbors. After retirement, he continued to enjoy horses and cattle, watching his grandkids play sports, show animals in 4H and compete in gymkhanas.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years Deb; his daughter Sherri (Paul) Brandt of Ovid, CO; sons Matthew (Kris) of Eckley, CO and Clinton (Tamarah) of McLean, TX. Grandkids Kyle and Carlie Brandt; Grady, Gracee and Maggie Linman; Zade and Nedah Linman; mother Lila Linman of Crawford, CO; brothers Dennis (Penny) Linman of Hotchkiss, CO; Scott (Marilyn) Linman of Colby, KS and Leslie Linman of Hotchkiss, CO; father in-law Dellis Ferrier (Linda) of Hotchkiss, CO; sisters in-law Pamela Filener (Cleve), Marcia Wyatt (Dave) and brother in-law Andrew Ferrier (Katie), numerous nieces, nephews and good friends.

He is preceded in death by his father William O. Linman, mother in-law Bonnie K. Rollins and her husband Larry, sister in-law Patty Linman, and nephew Casey Linman.

Services will be held on Saturday April 14 at 1:00 pm at Ranchland Livestock Auction, 321 East North Railway Street in Wray, Colorado, burial will take place at the ranch south of Wray, with fellowship to follow at the Eckley Community Center.
