Lola May (Smelker) Overlease

George F. and Wilma M. (Warren) Smelker welcomed Lola May into their family at Stratton, Colorado on May 17, 1929. She was the fifth of ten children.

September 14, 1946, she and Charles E. (Ed) Overlease were united in marriage at Goodland, Kansas. Ed and Lola were blessed with four children, Charlene (J. Rick) Coulson, Bonnie Moe, Stephen (Tamara) Overlease, and Marcia (Kelvin) Casper.

Lola was a gentle spirit who enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting, and gardening. She was a seamstress, did cross stitch, and crafts. She was an avid reader. She loved gifting her projects to her family, especially the grandkids.

Lola was called to her heavenly home on January 24, 2018. Lola was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ed, eight siblings, son-in-law, Stan Moe, and grandson, Chad Moe. Those left to treasure their memories are her children and spouses, grandchildren, Melanie (Graham) Johnson, James (Jennifer) Coulson, Stacy Coulson (Joe Saavedra), Kala (Austin) Powell, Mike (Dawna) Nash, Amy Ponder, Brad (Brianne) Moe, Craig Overlease, Laura (Lannie) Robbins, Christopher (Christa) Overlease, Daniel (Jade) Casper, Erin Casper, and Kyle Casper, sister, Velma McArthur, brother-in-law, Cecil Overlease, sister-in-law, Lila Rahmoeller, twenty-one great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Monday, January 29, 2018, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home in Wray, Colorado. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2018, 10:00 a.m. at the Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home, 427 Adams Street, Wray, Colorado with Rev. Dennis Fitz Patrick officiating. Interment will be held in the Grandview Cemetery in Wray, Colorado. Memorials may be given to Hospice of the Plains, P.O. Box 365, Wray, Colorado 80758. Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
