Lila Karen (Clabaugh) Tombaugh

Lila Karen Tombaugh was born on August 18, 1945 in Stratton, Nebraska to Arza Elbra Clabaugh and Pauline (Young) Clabaugh. She went to her Lord and Savior on September 27, 2023, at the age of 78, in Venice Florida.

She moved, with her parents, to rural Wray in 1950 and attended school in Laird until she attended Wray High School. On August 10, 1962, Lila was married to Richard Lee Tombaugh in Cheyanne WY. They were married for 58 years.

Lila was committed to community service. She was a volunteer firefighter in Madera CA. She was the San Joaquin Valley Fireman’s Association Secretary Treasurer and President. She was the California State Fireman’s Association Ladies Auxiliary Central Director and Central Deputy Director. Lila was the first female Volunteer on the Federal World Volunteer Fireman’s Association. Lila was an aid at Millview Elementary School for 29 years.

She is survived by her children, Christine (Ron) Gray, Scott (Lisa) Tombaugh, Joyce Tombaugh, Michael (Angela) Tombaugh, Rick Tombaugh, 11 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren, siblings, Nadine Dewey and Rex Clabaugh.

She is preceded in death by her husband, (Richard L Tombaugh), three brothers, Authur Clabaugh, Robert Clabaugh and Leonard Clabaugh and a sister, Eleanor (Clabaugh) Ethridge.

While she will be deeply missed, she touched so many people with Agape, the highest form of love, that her spirt will live among them forever.

A Rosary will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Andrew Catholic Church with Father Jerry Rohr officiating.

Interment will be held in the Grandview Cemetery in Wray, Colorado.
