Lawrence Wesley Gilstrap

Lawrence Wesley Gilstrap, known by his family and friends as Wes was born September 17, 1945 to Floyd Edward and Wilda Bonnell (Veal) Gilstrap in Armel, Colorado. He left this world November 12, 2023.

He attended Wray high school till he joined the United States Navy on November, 1963.  He married the love of his life Barbara Passmore on November 8,1968.

To this union they had four children Martha Lynn, Lawrence Laverne (Larry), Ruth Anne and Anthony Edward.

Wes worked for the Yuma County Road and Bridge all together he put in almost 50 years. He also worked part time for Cure farms, Wilder farms and Alco to name a few.

HE enjoyed being on the lake with Barb trolling the lake. He loved being grandpa and great grandpa. When the great grandkids came along the word NO meant ask him he couldn’t say no very often. Going to an event the grandkids were participating in.

He was Proceeded in death by his parents, wife Barbara, Children Ruth Anne and Anthony Edward, Parents in law Paul and Helen Passmore, sister and brother-in-law June and Eldon O’Dell and brother Rowen Gilstrap.

He is survived by his daughter Martha Lynn (Gene) Riley of Haigler, NE and son Lawrence (Larry) Laverne      (April)  Gilstrap of Wray  ,CO. Grandchildren Justin (Andrea) Gilstrap of Topeka, KS, Tasha (Michael) Knight of Haigler, Talan and Kayana Riley of Haigler, NE, Tyler Gilstrap of Wray ,CO, Elizabeth Gilstrap of Sterling ,CO, Ariel and Jordan Gilstrap of Wray, CO. Great grandchildren Sasha Lynn, Kase Michael Lee, and Skylar Jene Knight all of Haigler, NE, Hope Anne and Henry Jonathon Gilstrap of Topeka, KS. .also his companion dog Charlie. Brother-in-law Bob and Kaye Passmore of Omaha, NE and host of cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends.

Cremation was requested with Graveside service and Inurnment being held on November 27, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the Grandview Cemetery in Wray, CO.  Memorials may be made in Wes Gilstrap name at the Wray State Bank PO box 277, Wray, CO 80758.
