L. Lucille Brunswig, former resident of Ogallala, 94, died Wednesday, Jan.  9, 2014 at Casa de la Luz in Tucson, AZ.  A Memorial Service will be held at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ogallala at 11 am, on, Friday, Jan 17, 2014, with Pastor John Stubenrouch officiating.

Visitation will be during the evening of Friday, Jan 17 at the Spellman-Schmidt Funeral Home in Wray, CO. from 6 to 8 pm. A funeral service will be held at the Zion Lutheran Church, in Haigler, NE, on Sat. Jan. 18, 2014 at 11 am, with Pastor Chris Farmer officiating. The casket will be open one hour before the service.  A graveside service will be at the Haigler cemetery after the service on Jan. 18.

Lucille was born in Dundy County, NE on March 16, 1919 to Caroline and Herman Stute. She was raised in the Haigler, Ne. area.

On Feb. 20 1939, she was joined in marriage to Miles A. Brunswig in Haigler, NE. Shortly thereafter they moved to Portland, OR. In 1945 Miles and Lucille moved back to Haigler. In 1956 they moved their family to Ogallala where Miles and Lucille were engaged in the Ogallala and Oshkosh John Deere Dealership and later the Brunswig Trading Post east Hwy 30. She was member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ogallala. Lucille was involved with the Ogallala Community Beatification Committee and enjoyed other social activities.

In 1982 Miles and Lucille sold the Brunswig Trading Post to their son Robert and his wife Barbara and retired. During retirement Miles and Lucille enjoyed traveling by recreational vehicle and spending time at their residence in Tucson, AZ. In 2004 Lucile moved from Ogallala to Tucson as a full time resident.

Survivors include three sons, Robert and Barbara of Tucson, Dave of Lake Fork, TX, and Steve and Ann of Sauk Centre, MN and one daughter Joyce Brunswig, of Tucson, AZ.  She has 9 grand children and 12 great grand children and one great-great grandchild.

Lucille was preceded in death by her husband Miles, three brothers Fred, Alfred and Leroy and one sister Laveria Evans.
