Kay Marie Shay

Kay Marie Shay, a follower of Jesus Christ, went to the presence of her Lord and Redeemer on February
7, 2019, one week shy of her 74th birthday. Kay is survived by her husband of 50 years, Rodney W. Shay,
her Mother-in-Law, Margaret G. Shay, three children: Ryan W. Shay, Reese W. Shay, and Amy L.
Wessels; her three sisters: Margaret Ryther, Janet Greenhill, and Berta Howell; and 14 grandchildren.
Kay was a former school teacher at St. Francis Community High School and actively involved in the
family real estate business. She found joy in helping others and volunteering her time in the community.
She was involved in the St. Francis Community Church, Kansans for Life, The Gallery and Cheyenne
Center for Creativity (CC4C), Meals on Wheels, lady’s Bible study, and Book Club.

A family burial service was held on Monday, February 11th at the Bird City Cemetery. A celebration of
her life will be held on Sunday, February 17, 3:00 p.m. CT at the Peace Lutheran Church in St. Francis, KS.
