Katherine A. (Buchner) Owles

Katherine A. Owles was born in Aurora, Illinois April 9, 1922 to Anton and Marie Buchner. She was raised in a family of 10. After graduating from high school Katy worked in her parent’s bakery. A secretarial appointment came up for a water well drilling company in Aurora and she worked there until retiring. Kathy met Elmer Zbinden in Aurora where they were married. To this union a daughter, the late Sandy Drury was born in 1942. Elmer passed away in 1974. After retirement Katy lived in Florida and later moved to Colorado. Eventually living in Wray, Colorado, at the Towers and Hillcrest Care Center, until her passing on March 21, 2016. Katy would want to be remembered for her devotion to faith and family. Katy is survived by her son-in-law Richard Drury, Grandson Derek Drury and Granddaughter Heather Medrano and Mike of Yuma, CO. Great-Grandsons Grant Muirheld and Dawson Greisch of Yuma, Reid Drury of Texoma, OK Great-Granddaughter Monica Drury of Yuma and numerous friends and relatives. Memorial services will be held at Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home Thursday, March 31st 2016 at 2:00 p.m.. Inurnment at Mount Olive Cemetery in Aurora, Illinois next to her first husband will be at a later date. Schmidt – Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
