Judith "Judy" Louise Henson

January 10, 1949 — January 22, 2024

Judith Louise Henson was born January 10th, 1949, to James Dougan and Sue Machin in Phoenix, Arizona.  She passed away on January 22nd, 2024, in Wray, Colorado.  She was a cherished member of the Wray Community, known for her kindness, resilience, strength, and unwavering love.  Judy was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to many.  Her dedication to family and community left an enduring mark, leaving behind fond memories that will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Judy was born in Phoenix and lived there with her family until she met the love of her life, Jimmie Henson Sr.  They soon married and settled in Colorado.  They were blessed with three boys: Jimmie, Joshua and David.  Even though they were as onery as they come, they were her light.  They lived in Wray until the passing of her husband.  Judy then moved the family to Akron where they resided for many years, all of them making life-long friends there.  Employment opportunities eventually brought Judy and the boys back to Wray where she remained a resident until her passing.

Judy was called “mom”, “adopted mom” or “7-11 mom” by so many.  A quick stop into the store when she was working often turned into a fairly long visit.  Even if you were checking out, no matter how many people were in line behind you, she would not let you leave until she heard how your day was going, or how the family was doing, showing off the most recent photos of the grandbabies, great-grandbaby and making sure you were going to have a good day.  Her favorite day was Friday as she got to wear her most favorite purple fedora with her matching purple shirt.  She loved working at 7-11 and Wray Market because she got to see and get to know so many people from all over.  To her, most of you were not just customers, you had become family.

Judy was preceded in death by her mother, Sue Machin, father James Dougan, husband Jimmie, youngest son David, daughter-in-law Robin and brother-in-law Jerry Temanson.

She is survived by her sister, Jaymie Temanson of Globe, AZ; oldest son Jim and wife Kelli, and middle son Josh, all of Wray.  Grandchildren Jarred and Nicollette of Lakewood, CO; Skylar and Cate of Manhattan, KS; Jordan and Aspen of Breckenridge, CO; Autumn, Kiersen and Reagan all of Wray, and great granddaughter Aviana.  She was so loved and will be deeply missed by all.

Cremation was requested with a Memorial service being held on Friday, February 9, 2024, 10:00 a.m. at the Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home in Wray, Colorado. Memorials may be made to the Judy Henson Memorial Fund, c/o Wray State Bank, P.O. Box 277 Wray, Colorado 80758.
