John Albert Morris, 67 died October 26, 2016 at his home in Wray, Colorado. John was born February 14, 1949 in Wray, Colorado to John Oliver and Alice Mae (Lohman) Morris. John went to Wray and Laird schools and was not able to complete school and graduate, because he had to get a job and help his family.
John met and married Jody Grimes and to this union they brought two beautiful children to the world, John Christopher Morris and Terry Susanne Morris-Strickland.
John had numerous jobs in Goodland, Kansas, Wray, Eckley and Yuma, Colorado. In Goodland, he worked at Golden West Skills Center, Daylight Doughnuts, and McDonald’s. In Wray, he worked at Bob’s Pizza Plus; in Yuma, he worked at the Main Event, and in Eckley, he worked at the Silver Spur. John enjoyed cooking and sports especially watching his Denver Broncos and Wray Eagles.
He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, brother-in-law, numerous aunts and uncles and cousins.
He is survived by his children, son, John Christopher Morris in Yuma, Colorado; and daughter, Terry Morris-Strickland and husband, Robert of Ogallala; six grandchildren, Jasmine, Zach, Cody, Kayla, Kaden, and Karli; sister, Jean Lippert of Holyoke, sister, Barb Blowers and husband, Don of Montrose, Colorado; one step-brother, Lou of Minnesota and two step-sisters, Paulette of West Virginia, Nancy of Montrose, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.
Visitation was scheduled for Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home in Wray, Colorado from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Graveside services were held Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Grandview Cemetery in Wray, Colorado with Pastor Dave McQuiston officiating.
