JERRY V. STARKS, 77 born to Charles D. and Minnie(Grey) Starks in Oklahoma City, OK on September 11, 1933. He passed away in Denver, Colorado on May 19, 2011. He grew up in Russell, Kansas. He married Linda (Padilla) Starks in October 1953 at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, Colorado. To this union six children were born, Richard Starks, Virginia (Starks) Roath, Maria (Starks) Wren, Ramon Starks, Jerome Starks and Teresa (Starks) Powell. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 26 years, serving in the Korean and Vietnam War. He received the Bronze Star and many other medals. He loved ballroom dancing, fishing, swimming, scuba diving, archery and judo.

He was proceeded in death by her parents, parents-in-laws, Max & Virginia (Ocosta) Padilla, in-laws, Suzanne & Pete Vigil and Julia Karsh, nephews, Billy Adair and David Gunterman.

He is survived by his wife, Linda of 58 years, children, Richard Starks and wife, Leslie; Virginia Roath and husband, Gary; Maria Wren; Ramon Starks and wife, Kelly; Jerome Starks and wife, Morna; and Teresa Powell and husband, Scott; 26 grandchildren and their spouses, 16 great-grandchildren, as well as many other family members and special friends, including the Jimmy Hendrix family from his military days.

Rosary services were held on Monday, May 23, 2011, 7:00 p.m. at the Spellman-Schmidt Funeral Home in Wray, Colorado. Mass services were held at the St. Andrews Catholic Church in Wray, Colorado on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 10:30 p.m. with Father Jonathan Dellinger officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd., Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 20852. Spellman-Schmidt Funeral Home in Wray, Colorado was in charge of arrangements.
