Jennifer Brooke Gelvin was born December 27th, 1971 in Wray, Colorado to Edmond E and Rebecca C (Grate) Gelvin. They lived at Kitzmiller Ranch and in Laird, CO until the family settled north of Wray. She graduated from Wray High School in 1990 and moved to Boulder where she nannied for Uncle Bill and Aunt Jean Thomas while attending the University of Colorado. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1994; double majoring in music and art. Her love of music and singing landed her in Denver, where she went on to be the vocal front for The Blackouts, The New Majestics and The Fabulous Boogienauts. She met and married Keith Rouse, another member of the Boogienauts who shared her passion for music. They welcomed Jada Mackenzie to the family in 2004 and Jazper Logan in 2007. She created Jennsing Musik Company and shared her talents as a vocal coach. She provided vocal instruction at the School of Rock; a position seemingly made for her. She also served as a substitute teacher, allowing her to spread her joy to children throughout Denver. Her favorite calling, however, was being a mother.
