Jack Lee Bliven

Jack L. Bliven was born on April 3, 1948 in Wray Colorado to Jess “Pat” and Geraldine (Trent) Bliven. He was the fifth of nine children. Jack was a lifelong resident of Yuma County. He started driving a Semi over the road after graduating high school in 1966. Jack used to cruise Main street in his Semis, he liked to get a giggle from anyone he could. He drove for many trucking companies over his career on the road, taking him to all the lower 48 states. Most of Jack’s truck driving career was spent was spent driving for his brother, Donald “Mort” Bliven. He worked for Great Plains Co-op, and John Deere for brief periods as well, and ended his career driving a semi for Yuma County Road Department. Jack had to give up his beloved truck driving as his health started to get worse.

Jack was a very good-natured man. He always had a story or joke at the ready, and would often give endlessly to his family and friends, however he could help them. Jack had a very close relationship with many of his nieces and nephews.

Jack passed away at his home in the early morning hours of July 18, 2019. He was so cherished, and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Proceeding Jack in death are his parents, Pat and Jerry, three siblings, Patty Newton, Don “Mort” Bliven, and Mark Bliven, and an infant nephew, Rhett Bliven, brothers-in- law, Robert Newton, and Victor Langmacher, and sister-in-law, Sheryl Bliven.

Jack is survived by his daughter, Heather Harris, and three grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. He is survived by five remaining siblings, William Bliven and family, Carol Simmons and family, Joseph Bliven and family, the family of Mort Bliven, Ronn Bliven and family, Tom Bliven and family, and the family of Mark Bliven.

Graveside services were requested, with inurnment to follow at Glendale Cemetery in Vernon, Colorado on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Memorials maybe made to the Jack L. Bliven Memorial Fund, c/o Yuma County Federal Credit Union, 401 Main Street, Wray, Colorado 80758. Cremation was requested.

Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
