J. Earl Newton

April 27, 1931 — August 24, 2017

J Earl Newton was born on April 27, 1931 south of Vernon to H. Earl Newton and Helena (Engel) Newton. He passed away August 24, 2017 at Hillcrest Care Center in Wray, Colorado.

Earl attended Mount Hope country school from first grade through eighth grade. High school years were in Vernon Co graduating with the
Class of 1949.

Earl entered the Navy in July of 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1957. While in the service he took class P school for eight weeks in Florida then class A school in Tennessee becoming an Aircraft Piston Engine Mechanic. He was overseas in Japan, Korea, and Hawaii. stationed on the USS Princeton. After the service Earl worked for Mather Air Force Base as an Aircraft Piston Engine Mechanic, later moving into a management position.

Earl married the love of his life Patricia B. Inglis on June 9 th 1957. Not only did he marry the love of his life, but also gained a daughter Kathleen Ann whom he adopted. Earl and Patricia resided in Sacramento, Ca from 1957 to 1993 then moved to Gardnerville, NV. He came to Wray Co in Jan 2017 because of ill health.

Earl attended Sacramento City College and earned an Associates in Arts degree. Later he attended Sacramento State College and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. He worked at Mather Air Force Base at night and attended college in the daytime.

Earl was proceeded in death by wife, Patricia; daughter, Kathleen, parents, H. Earl Newton and Helena (Engel) Newton; father-n-law, Sidney Inglis, mother-in-law, Elizabeth Inglis; brother-in-law, Sidney; brothers, Gerald, Wayne, and Robert Newton, sisters-in-law, Glenda Newton, Patty Newton, and Elizabeth Hummel; brothers-in-law, Clifford Castor and Wesley Hummel; nephews, Gene Newton and Randel Newton and great-niece, Ana Ortega.

Leaving to mourn his passing brother, Dean Newton and wife Carol, sister, Virginia Castor and numerous nieces and nephews. Earl will be missed by all who knew him.

Graveside services and Inurnment were held at the Grandview Cemetery in Wray, Colorado Aug. 30, 2017, 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Ben Wentworth officiating. Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home were in charge of arrangements.
