Harold Shandy, 66 was born July 7, 1948 in Wasco, California to Ben and Mary (Jones) Shandy. He passed away November 20, 2014 in Idalia, Colorado.
Harold liked working on machinery and rebuilt his first car at the age of 12. He attended a power engineer’s school and obtained a stationary engineers license. He supported his family by working on large stationary engines, air compressors, and boilers. In 2006, he retired from National Jewish Hospital. Harold was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He instilled a love of the outdoors in his children and a great many friends and neighbors. He loved the area around Bonny Dam and decided it was the ideal place to retire. He worked very hard to become a beneficial member of the Idalia Community.
Harold is survived by his wife, Mary Shandy, three children, Jacqueline Shandy, Charles Clemons and Elnora Shandy, eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
A Memorial service was held November 26, 2014 at the St. John United Church of Christ in Idalia, Colorado with Pastor Chuck Wright officiating. Spellman-Schmidt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
