Harold L. Eisenbart

February 6, 1937 — September 27, 2025

Stratton

Harold entered the world on February 6 1937 to John J and Alice M (Hoag) Eisenbart, weighing in at 9lb 4oz. He was welcomed home by one sister and two brothers. They lived on a farm in Yates Center, KS. They raised cattle, farmed corn, soybean, wheat and milked a lot of cows by hand and did enjoy it.

He attended grade school in a county school for eight years. He entered high school in September 1950 and graduated in 1954, playing football all four years. He went out for basketball his freshman year, the first game he played he fouled out in the first quarter so the coach asked him to hang up his suit and he never played again. Everyone called him the Big B.S’er which his brothers say it still remains to this day.

He entered the U.S Navy in September 1955 bootcamp at Great Lakes Illinois. From there he went to Jacksonville, Florida where he was in Hurricane Warning Squadron. For the next three years after being discharged he was a supply clerk.

He then came to Stratton, Colorado where he worked for his Uncle Ray Eisenbart. He met the love of his life Audrey Jean Brachtenbach. He had a 1956 Chevy 4 door hard top car that was turquoise and white, Audrey fell in love with the car and then Harold. They were married on June 6, 1959. To this union they had four children Tina (1960), Brenda (1963), Russell (1966) and Kelly (1969), wonderful children they took good care of mom and dad, thank you.

In January 1959, Harold went to work at Stratton Equity Coop at the car care center. He helped start the fertilizer department and then went back to the car care center where he began managing until 1996 when he retired with 38 years of service. He went through three managers Dick Rose, Ben Davis and Jim Yates and 41 employees, not too bad.

He then worked with his wife Audrey for one year at St. Charles Church. He then went to work for the Kit Carson County Department #2 in 1998 where he ran a front end loader for the next 14 years until he retired, again.

Audrey and Harold followed all the grandkids for football, volleyball, softball and basketball which they enjoyed very much. He enjoyed all kinds of cards and spending time with his kids, grandkids and great grandkids.
