Hal Douglas Smith

HAL D. SMITH, 56 was born November 14, 1962 in Wray, Colorado to Richard D. and Marleen K. (Campbell) Smith. He passed away Sunday, August 25, 2019 at the Wray Community District Hospital.

Hal was a mason for 25+ years until he was forced to stop due to his illness. Many of the buildings he bricked have stood the test of time and will continue to be a memorial to him for many years to come. These include the Wray Library, the WRAC, and several other structures and homes throughout Northeastern Colorado.

Hal enjoyed watching sports, fishing, and playing golf. He was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan and a devoted father. Even in his final years, he never lost his sense of humor. From his colorful language to his charismatic smile, Hal will never be forgotten.

Hal is survived by his two sons, Jonathon Smith of Roswell, New Mexico and Jacob Smith of Windsor, Colorado, father Richard Smith and sister Marlea Smith of Wray, Colorado, brother Wade (Shelly) Smith of Eckley, Colorado, nephews Adam Smith and Chantz Smith, and niece Chelsea Smith. He is also survived by his uncle Tom (Joyce) Campbell and cousins Keree Olsen and Liesa Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marleen Smith, and his grandparents John and Hazel Smith and Harold and Marguerite Campbell.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at the Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home in Wray, Colorado with Pastor Steve Wynkoop officiating.

A Receiving of Family & Friends will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at the Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home, 427 Adams Street, Wray, Colorado from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

A Private Family Inurnment will be held in the Eckley Cemetery in Eckley, Colorado.

Memorials may be made to the Hal D. Smith Memorial Fund, c/o First Pioneer National Bank, 145 W. 4 ^th Street, Wray, Colorado.
