Glenn Dee Adamson, 84, died Saturday, December 24, 2016 at the Hillcrest Care Center in Wray, CO.
Glenn was born November 14, 1932 to Isaac and Bertha (Adams) Adamson, arriving 15 minutes before his twin brother Lynn Dean. He also had an older brother Charlie and an older sister Verlene.
He attended his first years of school North of Wray and completed his education through the 8th grade at the Cement School in Kirk, CO.
While in Kirk, CO he and his brother Lynn farmed and raised some cows.
After his father died when Glenn was twelve years old, he and his brother Lynn continued working together
At the age of 15 years he and his brother Lynn bought a farm North East of Wray. He farmed this property for approximately 4 to 5 years. During this time he also worked in the fall at the turkey plant.
After about 4 years of farming he went to work for Hank Bledsoe. He managed the Bledsoe Ranch for a little more than 20 years.
Glenn met his wife Phyllis in Wray and they were married October 19, 1958 at the Methodist Church in Wray. They had two children, Mike and Peri.
In 1973, Glenn and Lynn went into a long term partnership when they purchased Adamson Brothers Feedlot. Glenn would eventually retire from the feedlot in 2010.
Throughout his life, Glenn was active in many organizations. He was an active leader of the Wauneta 4-H club, involved member of the Wray Elks Lodge, member of the Colorado Cattlemen’s Association, Yuma County Cattlemen’s Association and served on several committees at the Methodist Church in Wray.
He loved to bowl, enjoyed playing golf and cards and was a cowboy through and through.
He also obtained his license to fly planes.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents Isaac Adamson and Bertha F. (Adams) Adamson, his sister Verlene (Adamson) Ethridge and brother- in-law Gerald Ethridge and brother Charles Adamson.
He leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Phyllis (Keeler) Adamson, his son Mike Adamson and Mike’s wife Carolyn (Courtney), his daughter Peri (Adamson) Crabtree and Peri’s husband Sam. His grandchildren George Heronema and Christopher Adamson, Randi (Ortner) Rusk and her husband Robert; Robin Ortner and her friend Anthony Bieker. One great – granddaughter Amelia Rusk. His brother Lynn Adamson and his wife Dottie (Drommond) Adamson. Theresa (Strick ) Adamson wife of Charles Adamson, along with many nieces, newphews and great-nices and great-newphews. Glenn has also left behind many dear friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Wray, Colorado Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 10:00 a.m.
