Gertrude "Trudy" M. Mullison- Grabowski

Gertrude “Trudy” Mary Wenger Mullison-Grabowski was born October 2, 1925 on the family farm 14 miles northeast of Yuma, Colorado to William and Mary Catherine (Zulauf) Wenger. She passed away December 19, 2018 at the age of 93. She was the third of four children; Robert, Violet, Trudy and Bill.

Trudy attended Brand School, a one room country school for grades 1-8. She attended Waverly High School for two years and graduated from Yuma High School. Upon graduating from Central Business College in Denver she worked at Gates Rubber Company.

During World War II, Trudy and her best friend and sister-in-law, Kathryn Pletcher Wenger, moved to San Diego, California to be near Robert who was in the Marines.   Trudy and Kathryn volunteered at the USO and handed out doughnuts to the GIs.

After World War II Trudy, her parents and brother Bill traveled to Switzerland for a few months. While there many life long relationships with relatives were formed. After returning from Switzerland on the Queen Mary, Trudy took a job in Wray. While living in Wray, she met and fell in love with Raymond Mullison. They were married on June 14, 1950. To this union four children were born, Janet Marie, Raymond Kent, Laurel Ann and Karen Raynette. Raymond passed away February 1988. Six years after losing Raymond Trudy reconnected with a special high school friend, Gus Grabowski, they married September 4, 1993. Gus passed away in the fall of 1998. In August 2010 Trudy moved to Denver to near to her children and grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Raymond and Gus; daughter, Janet Marie; parents, William and Mary Wenger; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Kathryn Wenger; sister and brother-in-law, Violet and Stanley Mekelburg.

She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Kent and Maggie Mullison, grandsons Kevin and Ryan Mullison; daughter, Laurel Mullison; daughter, Karen Gunn and grandson Alexander Gunn all of Denver. Stepchildren, Greg and Adrian Grabowski and grandkids, Kristen and Timothy Grabowski of Georgia; Gary and Debbie Grabowski and granddaughter, Laura and Jeff Snyder and great grandson Morgan Snyder of Albuquerque and grandson, Ryan Grabowski of Germany; Gale and Dorilla Grabowski and grandkids, Nathan and Samantha Grabowski of Albuquerque; daughter, Charmaine Grabowski of Albuquerque. Brother and sister-in-law Bill and Marie Wenger of Yuma; sister-in-law, Charlotte Mullison, and countless nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home in Wray, Colorado from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Funeral services were held on Friday, December 28, 2018, 10:00 a.m. at the Wray United Methodist Church in Wray, Colorado with Pastor Ben Wentworth officiating. Interment will be held in the Grandview Cemetery in Wray, Colorado. Memorials maybe made to the Wray United Methodist Church or the Wray Museum. Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
