Gary Lee Erickson was born June 11, 1951. He was the first of three boys born to Margaret and Don Erickson. Gary was born in Denver, Colorado. He attended Littleton High School graduating in 1969.
Gary loved music and played guitar and mandolin and sang lead vocals in his own “garage” band. He went to many concerts and could name many big stars that he saw in person.
He met his wife Jean in 1987 while watching a popular group playing at the Little Bear Bar. They hit it off and have been together since. Gary and Jean were married in 1995 in Wray on the anniversary of the day they met. They used to say they were married on the day they met.
Gary suffered from Multiple Sclerosis since he was 21 years old, but he didn’t let it slow him down. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing and going pheasant hunting with his brothers. He liked to drive around in his “baby” a 1962 Heavy Chevy. Later he fixed up a 1963 Chevy.
Sadly his disease progressed and he had to use a walker to get around. Even then he didn’t slow down. He still rode his John Deere mower around and kept his 5 acre farm neatly mowed. He enjoyed going out to eat with his family and usually ordered grilled fish.
Gary put up a brave fight but the MS got the best of him. He passed away at Yuma Life Care on June, 30 2015. His family and friends will sorely miss him.
