Fay’s lifelong faith was a cornerstone of her life. She attended church throughout her life, and one of her most cherished memories was singing in the Billy Graham Crusade Choir at Mile High Stadium in 1965 with the Lakewood Church of the Nazarene. In their early years of marriage, Fay and Alvin moved to Leroy Illinois, where they welcomed their first son Ryan Keith Mayer, in 1968. The family then relocated to Nolanville, Texas, where their second son Cass Dwayne Mayer, was born in 1972. In 1980, the family returned to Wray, Colorado, where they completed their family with the birth of their daughter, Lacey Marie Mayer, in 1983.

Fay was a dedicated mother and grandmother, and her love for her family was immeasurable. She was also deeply committed to her community. For 13 years, she served as a Girl Scout leader in Wray, guiding and mentoring many young girls. She also owned and operated an upholstery shop in Wray for 22 years and then was manager of the Wray Subway for several years before retiring.

Fay is survived by her children: Ryan Mayer (and his wife, Rebecca), their daughters Elizabeth (and her husband, Victor Zink, and their son, Nathan), and Catherine (and her husband, Trevor Carroll, and their children, Madison and Benjamin); Cass Mayer and his sons Blaike and Dylan Mayer, and their children; Lacey Mayer (and her husband, Adam Beyer, and their children Caleb Mayer and Adeline Messenger); and Fay’s stepdaughter Imelda Mayer.
