Evelyn Frances (Jones) Goodman was born February 16, 1925 to Robert L and Beatrice (Anderson) Jones at the home near St. Francis, Kansas. She was the fourth of eight children born to this family.
She attended Clough Valley and Rosencrans country schools and Laird High School where she graduated in 1943.
Evelyn and Junior Goodman were married July 25,1943. They celebrated 70 years of marriage before his death in 2013. To this union three children were born; Denny, Judy and Steve.
Evelyn lived with Junior’s family (Clarence and Virginia Goodman) while he served in the United States Navy during World War II. After his service, they moved to a farm near Clarksville. The family then moved to a farm west of Wray in 1955. Evelyn and Junior moved to the Goodman home place in 1989 where they resided until 2013 when they moved to The Towers and Hillcrest Care Center.
After her children were grown Evelyn earned her real estate brokerage license. She and Junior operated Riverside Realty until their retirement.
Evelyn was very active in 4-H and won State Championship in1942 for the wool coat and suit she had sewn. She was an accomplished seamstress and passed her love of sewing to Judy and many others when she was a 4-H leader.
Evelyn was a member of Eastern Star.
She was a long time member of the Wray United Methodist Church where for many years four generations worshipped together.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her loving husband Clarence L. Goodman, her parents Robert L. and Beatrice Jones, brothers, Lyle, Grant, Calvin, Raymond and Robert B. Jones and sister, Loell Renzelmam.
Evelyn is survived by her children Denny Goodman, Judy (Goodman) Critchfield, and Steve Goodman and wife Jo Ellen ( Mansfield) Goodman.
She is also survived by her eight grandchildren: Kami Rosin, Stephenie Lorimer, Lori Cantwell, Doug Critchfield, Jayme Ostroski, Mike Goodman, Greg Goodman and Brian Goodman. As well as 23 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
Her sister Caryl Sturch and husband Leon and sister-in-law Barbara Faye Jones also survive her as well as many nieces and nephews.
She passed away Saturday, August 4, 2018 at the Hillcrest Care Center in Wray, Colorado.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, August 10, 2018 from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home in Wray, Colorado.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2018, 2:00 p.m. at the Wray United Methodist Church in Wray, Colorado with Pastor Ben Wentworth officiating.
