Eleanor Kay (Jones) Yost was born July 19, 1945, to Homer and May Jones in St. Francis, Kansas. Kay was one of twelve children raised in the Wray area. She and her siblings liked to spend time playing in the “Laird ditch” growing up. Kay graduated from Wray High School in 1963.
Kay married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Dean Yost, on September 1, 1963, at the Wray United Methodist Church. The two were married for 52 years. Together they had three sons, Mike, Tim and Chuck. Kay started working at Shepard’s Citations as a citations clerk in 1968. Kay loved her job and was a dedicated and hardworking employee, loyal throughout many company changes. Kay was well respected by her peers and was mentor to many. Despite not having a college degree, she rose to the position of Senior Editorial Director at Lexis-Nexis. Her health forced her into early retirement after 45 years of service. She was well respected by her colleagues and garnished awards including the circle of excellence; she was awarded a two week trip to Italy for her and Dean.
Kay and Dean were members of the East United Methodist Church in Colorado Springs where Kay was an active member of the United Methodist Women’s group. Kay enjoyed spending time with friends and family, reading, golfing, needle point and crafts, camping, hiking, and baseball. Kay will be remembered for her generosity to all she met. She was a loyal and fierce friend. Kay had an amazing capacity for love that touched all of those she interacted with. Kay passed away June 18,2016 at her home in Colorado Springs surrounded by her family.
Kay is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Galen Jones and sister, Janet Jones Walker. She is survived by her husband, Dean; sons, Mike (Kamille) of Emporia, KS, Tim (Angie) of Black Forest, CO, Chuck ( Stephanie) of Grand Junction, CO; sister, Carol Jones Newton (Dean) of Wray, CO; brothers, Quinten Jones (Lucy) of Battle Creek, MI; Gary Jones (Bobbie) San Antonio, TX; Milton Jones (Venetta) of Greeley, CO; Allen Jones (Judy) of Wray, CO; Wallace Jones (Wanda) of Weatherford, TX; Sammy Jones of Wray, CO; Dave Jones (Barbara) of Wray, CO; and Denis Jones (Deena) of Wray, CO; sister-in-law, Murlynn Jones of Falon, NV; brother-in-law, Bob Walker of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Andrew, Ashley, Kaitlyn, Alyssa, McKenzie, Jessica, Gary and Craig; and many beloved nieces, nephews and very special friends.
Funeral Services will be held at the Wray United Methodist Church in Wray, Colorado, Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Jim Calhoun officiating.
Interment will be held in the Grandview Cemetery in Wray, Colorado.
