Dorothea Mae Oestman was born on July 18, 1917 to Junious and Gladys Weed at Laird, Co. She passed away at the Brighton Care Center in Brighton, CO on December 2, 2012.
She married Elmer Oestman, Sr. on September 5, 1937 and they farmed north of Wray until they retired and moved into town in November 1975. Dorothea and Elmer joined the United Methodist Church in Wray, Co in 1948. Prior to retirement Dorothea worked for Duckwalls, Tri State Hardware, Lucas Appliance and was a part- time bailiff for the county court. She was also very active in the church and was an avid golfer. Her yard and flowers were her pride and joy for many years.
Dorothea was raised and went to school in the Laird Community. She had four brothers and one sister who have all preceded her in death.
Dorothea was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Sr. in 2001. She will be missed by her loving family; Son, Elmer Jr. and wife Diane of Broomfield, CO and Daughter, Deana Medlock of Fallon, NV. ; grandchildren, Lisa (Dick) Pettinger; Michele Sack; Dan Medlock; Darrel Medlock (Joan); Douglas Medlock; Denise Medlock; Dottie Medlock; Trevor Bills; and Marnie Boom as well as multiple great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Services for Dorothea were held on Thursday, December 6th at 10:00 AM at the Wray United Methodist Church in Wray, Co. Burial was in Grandview Cemetery, Wray, CO. Memorials may be made to the Wray United Methodist Church in Wray, Colorado. Spellman-Schmidt Funeral Home in Wray, Colorado was in charge of arrangements.
