Donna moved with her family from their farm in Waterloo to Rock Island, Illinois and then on to San Francisco, California. At seven years old, she moved with her family to her first home in Golden Colorado. She worked at various jobs after attending West High School. Donna had many boyfriends until she met the love of her life at Shaffers Crossing and started her life as what she called a “Domestic Engineer.” She did work outside of the house for a few years, but enjoyed her time most as a wife, mother, and grandmother.
Joe and Donna were married on June 15, 1957 by a Justice of the Peace after Joe had returned from one of his Naval tours. They moved to Alameda, California to start their married life while Joe finished his active duty with the Navy in 1958. They returned to Colorado and lived in the Wheat Ridge and Golden area for many years raising their three children, some pets, and a few pigeons. They both shared a love of camping and cooking with family in the mountains, evening get togethers to play triopoly, and wonderful holiday family meals. On June 15, 2020, they would have celebrated their Sixty-third wedding anniversary. They had a very deep and amazing love for each other and were inseparable.
