Donald Glenn Deland

Donald Glenn DeLand, Sr. was born May 9, 1927 to Delbert and Alice Irene (Lamb) DeLand in Beecher Island, Colorado. He passed away March 6, 2012 at Hillcrest Care Center in Wray, Colorado at the age of 84.

He was raised in the Wray area. On December 31, 1954, he married Therlma Gleason and to this union were born three sons, Don, Steve, and Larry. Glenn worked at Phillips 66 and the Yuma County Road and Bridge. He retired from the Yuma County Road and Bridge at the age of 62.

He is survived by his sons, Don DeLand, Steve DeLand and wife, Paula of Wray and Larry DeLand of Buena Vista, Colorado; grandchildren, Dustin DeLand and wife, Rachael of Akron, Colorado, Devin Welp of Wray, Aaron, Rope and Skeeter DeLand of Wray; Charity and Cooper DeLand of Buena Vista, Colorado and great-grandchildren, Makynna, Mariah and Micah DeLand of Akron, Colorado, Naomi and Elizabeth Welp of Wray and Greyson Deland of Wray and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

A memorial service was held  Monday, March 12, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.,  at the Spellman-Schmidt Funeral Home with Pastor Glen Kline officiating. Memorials may be made to Hillcrest Care Center, 360 Canyon Ridge Drive, Wray, Colorado 80758. Spellman-Schmidt Funeral Home was in charge of arrrangements.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Alice, his step-father, Ora Stanley, brother, Floyd (Heavy) DeLand and sister, Hazel Hainline.

A Memorial service will be held on Monday, March 12, 2012, 2:00 p.m. at the Spellman-Schmidt Funeral Home in Wray, Colorado with Pastor Glen Kline officiating. Inurnment will be held in the Grandview Cemetery in Wray, Colorado. Memorials may be made to Hillcrest Care Center in Wray, Colorado. Spellman-Schmidt Funeral Home in Wray, Colorado is in charge of arrangments.
