Donald L. Campbell, affectionately known as 'Doc', passed away peacefully at his home in Wray, Colorado on November 10, 2024, at the age of 92. Born on May 31, 1932, in Brush, Colorado, Don pursued his passion for medicine, earning his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Denver in 1954 and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Colorado, School of Medicine in 1959. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine and General Surgery at the Bernalillo County Indian Hospital and the Albuquerque Veterans Administration Hospital.
In 1955, Don married JoAnn, and together they raised four children in Wray, where Don established his medical practice in 1965 after moving from Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was deeply connected to northeastern Colorado and cherished the rural lifestyle it offered.
Don had a wide array of interests, including history, archeology, pyrotechnics, hunting, and woodworking. He was known for his skill in cribbage and spent countless hours in his wood shop crafting cabinetry. His love of flight was evident in his glider project, which he worked on at his home in Wray.
Don is survived by his four children, their spouses, his six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, JoAnn. Services will be held at a later date to honor his memory.
