Daniel Joe Neuhaus was born in Wray, CO on January 14, 1959 to Olliver Jacob Neuhaus and Bonita Mae Josh Neuhaus. He entered eternal life with his Lord and Savior on January 9, 2017 in Bolton, Massachusetts. He was baptized on February 15,1959 and confirmed in April 29,1973 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Wray, CO.
Dan spent most of his childhood in the Wray community with sisters, Susan and Peggy. He attended Wray elementary schools except for 1 st grade where he attended school in Wilcox, AZ. Dan graduated from Wray High School in 1977, and attended CU Boulder where he earned his degree in Architectural Engineering and graduated in 1981. Dan was a true Buff fan.
Dan lived his life with the core values of faith, family and friends. Dan married Tammy Peterson in 1982 and this union was blessed two children Kiel Jacob and Michaela Lynn. In 2013 his marriage was resolved, however the love for the heart of the family remained.
Over the years, Dan worked in the construction industry with a specialization in roofing, building and remodeling of offices and storage facilities. The family lived in the Denver metro area, however his work led Dan to travel coast to coast. This past summer his work relocated Dan to Bolton, Massachusetts. During his travels, many friendships were established and he touched many lives.
Dan’s love for the Lord was witnessed by all who knew him in the way he lived his life. Dan was a patient man with a kind spirit. He never knew a stranger and freely entered into conversations. He met you exactly where you were in life whether you were 2 or 92.
Dan was an avid sports fan and the kids biggest, loudest cheerleader. He played basketball, baseball and some football in high school. His summers were filled with camping trips at Lake Enders and Lake Powell. Some of our fondest memories were when he taught us to water ski, wakeboard, and cliff jump. His kid like spirit allowed him to show his love for all kids as he played with his children, his nieces and nephews in the backyard, and the neighborhood kids in the cul-de-sac. Living room shenanigans included throwing football passes and wrestling with Kiel to fingernail polish and having his hair done with pink bows by Michaela.
Dan was a respected, loving and cherished father, brother, uncle and friend. We are blessed to have had a him in our life. He will be remembered for his love of his children, his Lord, his family and friends, each and every bowl of vanilla ice cream topped with warm chocolate chip cookies, and all the many ways he touched our hearts.
Dan is survived by his two children Kiel and Michaela, their mother Tammy, his sisters Susan Dickson Sheridan and husband Chuck, Peggy Gustafson and husband Chris, his girlfriend Diane Letson, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Dan in death were his parents O.J. (Bugs) and Bonny Neuhaus, his grandparents A.J. and Edna Neuhaus and Frank and Vera Josh and brother-in-law Robert Dickson.
The Neuhaus family extends our deepest gratitude for your kindness, thoughts and prayers and for your presence today.
