Born and raised in Denver, Chris spent his youth in Boy Scouts rising to the level of Eagle Scout and on competitive swim teams, setting various team records along the way. He loved to camp and fish in the mountains with his brother and father, and spent his summers camping or entering swim meets.
He relocated to Oklahoma in 1975 with his family, where he finished his high school education and spent the next three years at Oklahoma University.
He worked various jobs over the next 30 years which took him from Oklahoma to Texas, back to Oklahoma, up to Missouri and then Kansas. He finally relocated to Jackson, Mississippi where he had lived for the last 10 years.
His fight with cancer started in Jan 2020 but he remained positive the entire time...he endured chemotherapy 3 separate times but still managed 2-week National Parks vacation with his kids in Summer of 2021. Grand Canyon, Sequoias, Death Valley, and Arches were all part of the itinerary of the last trip he and his kids took together.
