Charles Forrest Maupin was born June 4, 1943 to William and Eleanor (Bunning) Maupin in Denver. He passed away Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Sunset Manor in Brush at the age of 75.
He graduated from Brush High School in 1961. After high school he served in the United States Navy where he was stationed at Yakuza, Japan. Following his discharge he later earned a Masters Degree in Art History from the University of California at Berkley. After college he lived in Riverside, CA for awhile and married Alice who had a beautiful daughter, Cher and then along came son, Quinn Forrest on May 29, 1975.
Chuck then moved to Wray in 1984 to be closer to his father and family. While in Wray he worked for Alfa Flour and did painting and odd jobs on the side. While living in Wray, he met and married Pam, happy to have two more daughters, Jesse and Gabie. Church sang in the Wray United Methodist Church for approximately five years.
Son, Quinn passed away in a car accident May 15, 1993.
In 2005, Chuck moved to Freemont, NE to be near his friend, Kevin Wilkins. While living in Freemont he met and married Sandy. After the passing of wife, Sandy in 2010, Chuck moved back to Wray to be closer to his family. He, then retired and enjoyed spending his time creating art, watching a good movie, reading a good book and listening to loud music.
Chuck continued to live in Wray until failing health forced a move to Eben Ezer Assisted Living in Brush and later to Sunset Manor where he continued to live until his death.
His art has been on display in various shows throughout his life. Some of his art will be displayed at this services. He enjoyed time with his family and friends, talking, laughing and telling a good story. "He could light up a room with his million dollar smile and personality," said one of his close friends. He will be missed by many.
Preceding him in death were his parents, William and Eleanor Maupin; son, Quinn Maupin; sister, Jeanette Rieb; brothers-in-law, Ron Rieb and Dick Greene & wife, Sandy.
Survivors include siter, Jolene Greene of Riverside; brother, Jean Maupin & wife June of Brush; step-daughters, Cher Fear of California; Jessie and Gabie Cushen and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
Memorial services were held on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home in Wray, Colorado at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Pam Coulter officiating. A Private Family Inurnment was held in the Grandview Cemetery in Wray, Colorado. Memorials maybe made to the Charles Maupin Memorial Fund, c/o First Pioneer National Bank, P.O. Box 96, Wray, CO 80758. Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
