Berna Kay Renzelman was born on September 12, 1938 to Samuel Glenn and Vera Fern (Blacker) Rockwell in Wray, Colorado.
She attended Eckley and Wray schools and graduated Wray High School in 1956. After high school she moved on to attended UNC in Greeley and graduated with Teaching degree and minor in home economics.
On June 20, 1959, Berna married Argil Renzelman at the Calvary Lutheran Church and made their home south of Laird Colorado where they raised their three children, Suzanne Renee (1962), Douglas Craig (1965) and Darin Argil (1969).
Berna taught school in Idalia for two years before staying home to raise her family during which time she continued to substitute teach throughout the years.
She belonged to many different clubs throughout her lifetime Las Menoras, PEO, several bridge clubs, 4H leader, church organist and avid member of the Calvary Lutheran Church.
In 2019, the Renzelman ranch was honored at the State Fair for being owned and operated for 100 years and was extremely proud of that.
Berna and Argil loved to travel, and take their family with them on beautiful trips, traveling the world including Disneyland, Disneyworld, San Diego, Caribbean Cruises, Germany, France, Hawaii, New Zealand, and Australia with beautiful, lasting memories were made.
It's hard to explain the never-ending love that she poured out and everyone knew it. We are blessed. She was an outspoken, strong willed German woman, with a caring, giving, kind soul.
Knowing Berna, you knew she was always proud of her children and her grandchildren.
Berna was proceeded in death by her son, Darin; parents, Glenn and Vera Rockwell; and husband of 55 years, Argil Renzelman.
She is survived by her daughter, Renee Miller; son, Douglas and daughter-in-law, Robin Renzelman; all of Wray; granddaughter, Brittany Zink and grandson, Brandon Zink of Wray, granddaughter, Mackenzie Smelker and husband, Trenton and great-grandson, Tyson; brother, Dwight Rockwell and wife, Nancy all of Wray; several nieces, nephews, friends.
Funeral services were held on Friday, December 29, 2023, 2:00 p.m. at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Wray, Colorado with Pastor Gary Rahe officiating. Interment was held in the Grandview Cemetery in Wray, Colorado. Memorials may be made to the Calvary Lutheran Church or the Wray Community District Hospital.
