Barbara "Barb" Anne (Passmore) Gilstrap

Barbara Anne (Passmore) Gilstrap born on September 24, 1949, to Paul LaVerne and Helen Maxine (Carman) Passmore in St. Francis, Kansas. She left this earth on October 30, 2022, after her health declined.

She graduated from Benkelman High School with the class of 1968. On November 8, 1968, she married the love of her life Lawrence Wesley Gilstrap making their home in Wray, Colorado. And to this union they were blessed with four children, Martha Lynn, Lawrence LaVerne, Ruth Anne, and Anthony Edward.

Barb worked at several different places, she was a custodian at the Wray Elementary school and thoroughly enjoyed the children for many years. She also worked at the 7-11 and Alco stores.

Barb enjoyed crocheting blankets, planting flowers in the Spring, genealogy, watching the animals especially her toy fox terrier, Charlie which she spoiled by the hours loving him. She loved going with Wes and trolling for hours on the lake to do some fishing.

Barb was overwhelmed with joy when grandchildren came along, she enjoyed spending time with each of them. Then came the time she became a great grandma, which she was so proud to be and loved being around them and showing them pictures of them on her phone.

She is preceded in death by her parents, children, Ruth Anne and Anthony Edward, parents-in-law, Ed & Bonnell Gilstrap, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, June (Eldon) O’dell.

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence Wesley (Wes) Gilstrap; daughter, Martha Lynn (Gene) Riley of Haigler, NE; son, Lawrence (Larry) LaVerne (April) Gilstrap of Wray, CO; grandchildren, Justin(Andrea) Gilstrap of Topeka, KS, Tasha(Michael) Knight of Haigler, NE, Talan and Kayana Riley of Haigler, NE; Tyler Gilstrap of Wray, CO; Elizabeth Gilstrap of Sterling, CO; Ariel and Jordan Gilstrap of Wray, CO; great-grandchildren, Sasha Lynn, Kase Michael Lee, Skylar Jene Knight of Haigler, NE; Hope Anne and Henry Jonathon Gilstrap of Topeka, KS; brother, Robert Arthur (Kaye) Passmore of Omaha, NE; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Cremation was requested with a Memorial service being held at the Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home in Wray, Colorado on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment will be held in the Grandview Cemetery in Wray, Colorado. Memorials may be made to the Barbara A. Gilstrap Memorial Fund, c/o Wray State Bank, P.O. 277, Wray, Colorado 80758.
